SYNOPSIS: Allie Sheridan’s world is falling apart. Her brother’s run away from home. Her parents ignore her. And she’s just been arrested. Again.

This time her parents have had enough. They send Allie to Cimmeria Academy – far away from her London friends. The school is beautiful, and filled with gorgeous, ultra-wealthy teens who travel by private jet, and were raised by nannies.

Allie has never felt more of an outsider.

Instead of hating boarding school though, Allie begins to feel happy. She’s slowly making friends. And there’s Carter, a brooding loner with whom she feels an instant connection.

But when Allie is attacked late one night, the school suddenly begins to feel like a very dangerous place. Allie finds out that nothing at Cimmeria is what it seems.

And that she is not who she thought she was…

WHAT DID I THINK: 3 out of 5 Stars

I love stories that take place in boarding schools.  So when I saw that Night School is a thriller that place in a boarding school in England, I was excited.

First this is not a paranormal.  This is a YA story that has some “strange” things that happen throughout the story, but it is explained later.  Sixteen year old Allie has gotten in trouble time and time again since her brother has gone missing.  Her parents have had enough and thought the best solution was to send her to a boarding school that would be able to help her.  When Allie arrives to Cimmeria Academy she is immediately instructed to learn the rules and guidelines.  After sometime Allie does not hate Cimmeria as much as she thought she would.  She makes friends as well as catches the eye of two boys, Sylvain and Carter.  There are a lot of strange things that occur at Cimmeria Academy.  There is a Night School that takes place that no one discusses.  As more and more strange things occur, Allie wants to know what goes in at night.

Allie is an okay heroine. I felt indifferent to her. I am not sure how or why she caught the attention of “supposedly” the two most wanted boys on campus.  Sylvain and Carter were both boys that had reputations, but I never saw it and it felt like it was forced into the story to cause drama.

There were a few things that made no sense even after I got some of the facts. At certain times throughout the book, Allie speaks of her gut “not to trust this person” and then she would trust them.

While I was reading,  I even tried hunting for spoilers hoping that it would draw me back to the story.  However, every time I stopped and picked the book back up hoping that something would grab me, nothing would.   The love triangle between Sylvain and Carter is there, but everything is a rumor.   I got bored with nothing being relieved until almost 75% of the book.

As I mentioned I was excited to read this, but to say it dragged is an understatement. Every chapter felt like a repeat of the previous one.  I understand when an author is trying to build suspense before the big revolution is given, but once I found out what was going on in the Night School, it was not that exciting to me.
